Levine’s Children’s Hospital Toy Drive
With the upcoming holiday season, we wanted to ensure that we were in the spirit of gift-giving! Thinking back to our childhoods, we always anticipated the joy of opening gifts under the Christmas tree, with dolls and toys of many sorts. Many children across the country struggle to achieve this joy as they spend their holidays in the hospital, which may seem daunting to them. We wanted to make a change so that children could experience holiday cheer and decided that our next drive would go towards our local children’s hospital. After Samaya reached out and connected with the coordinator at Levine’s Children’s Hospital, we were able to set a proper date and time to drop off our donations. Suhani and Valentina got to work by utilizing their officer positions in HOSA and the Spanish Honor Society to offer service for student toy donations. After collecting all supplies, we surpassed our goal of 100 toys by 116, reaching a total of 332 toys! Toys were inclusive to a wide age span, from teething rings for infants to dolls and coloring books for older children. We then transported the toys to Levine’s Children’s Hospital, where patients would then be able to “shop” for which toys they wanted. It felt like a full circle moment for all of us as we were able to experience being ‘Santa’s elves’ for many strong children!
